Launch of the Transition Evesham Vale Local Food Directory

by steve on April 29, 2015

TEV-Food2Transition Evesham Vale launched the latest version of its Local Food Directory at the launch of the Asparafest at the Fleece on Thursday last. Along with Gus and Morris men and women who were celebrating the new asparagus season, the new directory celebrates and promotes all of the scrumptious food we grow and make in the Vale. Nigel Smith Landlord of the Fleece(pictured) in Bretforton wrote in the Forward of the Directory of how privileged he felt to have played a part in supporting Transition Evesham Vale’s campaign to promote local growers. And the Fleece is a part of the growing number of food outlets which have registered with TEVs 30:30 Scheme, which supports those eateries which procure and sell at least 30% of their food from within a 30 mile radius of Evesham.

TEV-Food1Nigel stresses in the Forward how” businesses in the Vale have moved in the food and liquor trade from locally sourced being an occasional adjunct to menus ten years ago to being an essential for much of the market, with detailed provenance being a key part of the mix”

Steve Martin chair of Evesham Vale  said that “5000 copies of the new directory will be distributed via children from local schools  to homes in the Vale. Transition Evesham Vale hopes that recipients of the Directory will use it to increase the support for local growers, farm shops and local businesses who manufacture delicious jams, pickles and world beating meat pies, made here in the Vale!”
