The 30:30 Local Food Campaign – Taste of the Vale

by Admin on January 2, 2012

TRANSITION EVESHAM VALE has begun to promote the idea of local food as

restaurants, cafes and
dining pubs have to offer. The 30:30 campaign and was launched at this year’s
Local Food festival held in Evesham in June. The Food Festival team invited
local restaurants and cafes to adopt the idea of a “local menu” which is made
up of at least 30% locally sourced produce from a radius of 30 miles around
Evesham. “We call this

the 30:30 – Taste of the Vale” says Chair of the Food
Festival Committee Stephen Martin. “More and more people eat at restaurants
that offer good local food because they know it’s better for them and the local
economy and the environment. And we shall encourage local supermarkets
and stores to showcase as many local foods as possible during the pre-festival
week next year.”

There are currently 13 members of this “exclusive” 30:30 local food group and
many more are in the pipeline. All of the members offer an excellent array
of fresh locally sourced food from a 30 mile radius of Evesham and are really
proud to support local growers and farmers. They are also keen to offer more
seasonal produce which exemplifies local suppliers and
of course our local economy too!
