2013 Vale First – Local Food Festival

by steve on March 15, 2013

The quality and source of our food is big news right now. Transition Evesham Vale is again hosting the local food festival ‘Vale First’ on Sunday 23 June celebrating the produce and products of local businesses that you know and trust.

“This event offers people in the Vale of Evesham the opportunity to taste and judge for themselves where best to buy safely and locally” says Stephen Martin, chair of the festival organising committee. Building on the success of previous years, we hope to expand the range of exhibitors as well as hosting a programme of music and children’s activities.

The festival is linked with the National Morris Festival on the 21-23 June. Vibrant Morris dancers from around the country bring thousands to Evesham in June every year.

We are encouraging local restaurants and cafes to adopt the idea of a “local menu” made up of at least 30% locally sourced produce from a radius of 30 miles of Evesham. “We call this the 30:30 Taste of the Vale” says Stephen. “Diners are more likely to eat at restaurants that offer good local food. And we shall encourage local supermarkets to showcase as many local foods as possible during the pre-festival week”.

This year promises to bring more mouthwatering local treats to tempt the tastebuds – fresh seasonal vegetables, local meat, fruit juices, ice-cream, cakes, jams, cheeses and selections of local beers, ciders and wines, plus local restaurants providing snacks and meals. We urge Vale residents to buy and eat locally – Vale First.

Book before 31 March 2013 to take advantage of our £5 discount.

We are a small local producer of Rare Breed Dexter Beef and Homemade Premium Pork Sausages in Ombersley, Worcestershire. We are interested in having a stall at the 2013 Vale First – Local Food Festival.

We have a passion for producing top quality meat in as natural a way as possible.

Our website is http://www.knightsgrovemeats.co.uk if you have time to have a look.

If we are the sort of business that you are hoping to promote then I would be really grateful if you could send me some further details.

Kindest Regards

Sarah Lovatt
